February 14 & 15, 2026
Le Jardin Academy, Kailua, Oʻahu
During the conference, you will engage with expert practitioners, students, and educators about how to create more just, belonging-oriented spaces in our schools and communities.
Agenda
This year, we are delighted to organize the two days of the Hawaiʻi Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Conference to mirror the conference theme: Rooted in Place, Evolving Across Contexts: Centering Identity to Transform Our Communities.
February 14, Day One: Centering Identity…
How can we center our identities to create change?
How can I express my individual and community identity in the world?
We will begin the conference learning from keynote speaker Pua Case, who will share her experiences as a leader of the Mauna Kea movement. This will be followed by a series of activities and discussions to process and respond to her ideas and experiences while exploring the question, “What would I stand for, and what can I do when I am feeling afraid?” In the afternoon, conference attendees will participate in Pilina Circles, a facilitated space where participants are invited to sit together and focus on rebuilding deep connections and meaningful relationships by sharing mo‘olelo, listening deeply, and (re)discovering our connections to ourselves, one another, and ‘āina.
February 15, Day Two: …to Transform our Communities
What does transformation look like?
How can I build skills to help create change?
Day Two of the conference will begin with a panel of high school students who will be sharing their experiences with creating and supporting change in their own school communities. This will be followed by a series of workshops that center skills and dialogue for creating change in our school communities. We will end the day with activities and discussion that centers our learning from the conference and fills our hearts for the return to our schools and communities.
